Feeding babies can be fun too!! Here you will find super easy vegan finger food meals to make that are baby friendly following the Baby Led Weaning method. Most days my daughter eats a variation of the same meal I'm eating - in doing this, you will naturally spend less time cooking, and more time together.
Baby Finger foods
Here you will find Baby Finger Food ideas recommended for 6 months & up. These are soft foods that they can still mush with or without teeth. When I started making these recipes, my daughter didn't have any teeth yet and I felt they were safe for her. Please feed your baby whatever you feel safe giving her. Finger foods are not only a great way for your babes to explore taste & texture, they also have developmental benefits as well. While eating, they can practice their pincer grasp, as well as hand eye coordination by picking the food up themselves and placing it in their mouth.
I started to introduce food to Ximena at 6 months, starting with rice cereal per the doctor's recommendation. After a week, I started making my own purees. Make sure you introduce a new food every few days as to make sure your child does not have an allergies . After some time I was noticing how hands-on she wanted to be while eating. I eventually let her spoon feed herself by loading up the spoon and handing it to her. After feeding herself what was on the spoon, she would either drop the empty spoon on the tray, but mostly the floor, letting me know she wanted more.
Not long after that, I began steaming small pieces of veggies, letting her pick them up off the tray to feed herself. I find that she really enjoys the sight, touch, and taste connection, as well as the independence she has of feeding herself. As long as I know the food is soft, I have continued to expand her options with more and more foods - muffins, noodles, veggies, fruit, beans, grains. If your baby is showing you that she wants to be more hands on during meal time, these foods will be a great start... as long as you are okay with it being a little messy!
