I literally remember surrendering everything to God and he gave me the strength to push through...
Q: How old is your kid(s)?
A: One-month-old baby boy!
Q: What did you think when you found out you were pregnant?
A: I was in complete shock! We hadn’t “planned” much out but simply decided to get off birth control and see what God had in store. Literally that week I got pregnant. It was pretty surreal!
Q:Was your birth what you had envisioned or different from previous birth(s)?
A: I was lucky enough to have advice from many amazing mamas that helped me through the process. I didn’t want to have too many expectations since a lot of things can change while giving birth. The only thing I could control were my thoughts, and be surrounded by people that supported my wishes. I literally remember surrendering everything to God and he gave me the strength to push through...it was the most beautiful and raw experience! My goal was to be able to push out my baby and wait until as long as I could until I asked for pain relief. I was very proud of myself for how far I made it and the strength I found within to deliver. We didn’t know the gender of our baby so it was the greatest surprise I’ve ever experienced to hear my husband say “it’s a boy!”
Q: How do you like to relax? Or take time for yourself?
A: Showers have become my haven. I love taking long, hot showers and playing my favorite music while relaxing my mind. I often spend that time praying or just meditating - enjoying the time alone.
I also love when my husband sends me to get my nails done! Nothing like a nice pedicure and it makes me feel ‘somewhat’ put together!
Q: What is one thing you have noticed a change in yourself since becoming a mom?
A: I am FOREVER changed. There are many things I could point to, but one thing I have noticed is my level of patience . My baby is only one-month-old and is already teaching me so much of myself. Through the late night feedings and the moments of uncertainty of whether I’m cut out for the job - Everyday I am learning something new. It has helped me not only grow as a mama, but in my relationship with my husband as well.
